RIP:BILLY GRAHAM--PINOYS' DEAR FRIEND

Reverend Billy Graham, passed away at age 99. He is one of the most popular Christian evangelists of all times. He spoke to over 400 million people in over 150 countries in his events worldwide. No one compares closely to his acomplishments as a preacher and evangelist. This is not to include the number of people he touched via the modern-day internet, radio and television. Pinoys consider Billy a great dear friend.

Billy declared, "I want to bring the Filipino people closer to Christ."

Graham visited the Philippines in 1977 and spoke to over 400,000 Pinoys. In 2006, his son Franklin spoke to over 317,000 Pinoys. Later on Graham's grandson Will spoke to over 97,000 Pinoys in Bicol, a southern Philipines province. Predominantly Catholic, the Philippines and Pinoys looked up to Billy and his relatives for prayers, blessings and guidance.

According to Pew Research,  the Philippines is a very conservative country. 93% of Pinoys believe that abortion is immoral. Two thirds of Pinoys(67%) view divorce unacceptable.

There are over 76 million Pinoys, the fourth largest Catholic country in the world. 95% of Pinoys view Pope Francis well.

The Vatican affirms the importance of the Philippines. Three popes already visited the Philippines (About 6,000 miles from Vatican). In 1970, Pope Paul VI visited Manila. St. John Paul II visited twice in 1981 and 1995. And of course most recently, the current Pope Francis visited too.

Despite the economic gains achieved by the Philippines recently a lot of Pinoys are still poor. The weather is extremely hot, there is still the drug menace, government corruption and the Muslim insurgency(recently quelled in Mindanao). A lot of Pinoys look up to Graham and his relatives for prayers and guidance.

Even US Presidents turned to Billy for prayers and guidance. President George W. Bush, prior to becoming US President had an alcohol issue. Billy intervened and George W says, "If it was not for Billy, I would not be President." President Bill Clinton turned to Billy during his dark days of impeachment. The Pinoys find the light and sparks from the late Reverend Billy. All the Graham relatives who are evangelists are most welcome back in the Philippines.
